David Grossman Hw

I kind a disagree with David Grossman. In my opinion, he is being a little too harsh about this. He say that watching T.V is reject old values and similar to soldiers in training. That doesn't make sense. Some of the kids learn things including old values through visual aids. So why watching T.V is reject old values? Also, he said that watching T.V is somehow similar to soldiers in training. Kids make their choice and watch T.V to entertain and relax. They didn't watch T.V because someone told them to watch it. However, I agree with his ideas about gaming is similar to military warfare. Some video games are just plain violate, everything in the games are just violated and inappropriate.  Plus, I agree that video games are teaching kids to like killing. There are some cases in Vietnam where kids play games and start to think like video games. They think that killing is normal think and didn't imagine about the consequences. As a result, they think that killing is the easiest way to solve a problem .... and their life started to ruin since then.
In conclusion, I think David Grossman is being a little too harsh about television shows. However, I must agree with him about video games.

  1. I agree with your opinion, Maria. Children can watch anything they want to, so which mean they could choose any channels they want to watch. There're many kids just watching T.V for relax, or just even watching a cartoon movie for fun... Great comment Maria!!!

  2. I think you have a very strong argument here. I agree with you that the T.V part does not make sense.

  3. Maria, I really agree with your opinion. You have a very strong disagreement toward David Grossman about kids getting bad effects about television. For me, I kind of have the same opinion with you too that they could watch anything they want but as long as they are supervising by an adult :)

  4. It's surprising to me that you actually mention an argument about television. I also think that television have extremely little effect on teenagers, because it's just a film, and they are just watching it, they're not even taking part in the movie, so the effect is even less than video games. However, I must disagree with you on the video games, I've been to many internet stores, and the kids that are there probably are still in school, studying, they're just relaxing after school. Honestly, I can tell you that there are in fact, a lot of obsessed gamers and they are still, not liking to kill. It depends on which kill, the kill that makes them win the game is the correct purpose, when you achieve something, or beats a game, you feel a great sense of confidence and thus, feel better. However, the killing in real life, not so much, what does it reward them? Nothing. So I think that, the video games can't teach kids of like to kill.
